Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS)

By , About.com Guide

The Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS) is the gateway to searching the National Driver Register (NDR). Problem drivers from across the United States are cataloged in this database. As stated on the NDR website, "Based on information received as a result of an NDR search, PDPS will "point" the inquiring jurisdiction to the State of Record, where an individual's driver status and history information is stored. In conjunction with the Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS), PDPS is intended to assist jurisdictions in the meeting the basic tenet "...that each driver, nationwide, have only one driver license and one record," through the cooperative exchange of problem driver information between jurisdictions."

There are several forms available to users of this site.

  • The Employer Request Form is used by a company to ascertain if a prospective employee is listed on the NDR.
  • The Individual Request Form is used by an individual to determine if that individual is on the NDR.
